Sunday, June 11th at 3:00 pm is the world premiere performance of the opera, Youth without Age and Life without Death composed by Carmen Mateiescu. This one-act chamber opera is based on a Romanian folk tale.
Carmen Mateiescu conducted extensive research in the traditional music of Romania. She is a recipient of the Constantin Brailoiu Grant for Ethnomusicological Research.
This program is part of Westminster Conservatory’s 2016-2017 performance theme, Women Composers. The performers include a narrator and three singers. The instrumental ensemble is from the Westminster Conservatory of Music, and conducted by Ruth Ochs. The opera performance takes place at the Robert L. Annis Playhouse on the campus of Westminster Choir College.
